BCCL CMD Reviews Coal Readiness Drive
Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has intensified its operational review ahead of the monsoon season, with Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agrawal leading a comprehensive inspection across the Barora, Block-2, and Govindpur areas. The review covered critical aspects of mining operations, including coal dispatch infrastructure, washery performance, railway siding facilities, safety standards, illegal mining prevention measures, and preparedness for weather-related disruptions. Senior officials accompanied the CMD during the field visit. Beginning at the KCC Link Siding in Barora and the KCC Main Siding in Block-2, Agrawal closely assessed coal transportation systems and infrastructure readiness. During the inspection, he recommended relocating the KCC Main Siding line to increase the safety distance from the main railway track and directed officials to initiate necessary groundwork on priority. The CMD also emphasized the need for continuous improvement in coal quality and washery efficiency, identifying them as key drivers for meeting production and dispatch targets in the current financial year. Discussions focused on strengthening operational discipline and ensuring uninterrupted logistics during the rainy season. Special attention was given to pre-monsoon preparedness, with officials reviewing drainage systems, slope stability, equipment readiness, and emergency response mechanisms to minimize weather-related disruptions. Measures to curb illegal mining and reinforce safety compliance were also discussed. As a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, BCCL plays a crucial role in India’s coking coal supply chain. The latest inspection reflects the company’s commitment to operational excellence, environmental compliance, workforce safety, and efficient coal evacuation. With monsoon challenges approaching, BCCL’s leadership has reiterated that safety, quality, teamwork, infrastructure modernization, and proactive planning will remain the foundation of the company’s strategy for achieving sustainable growth and maintaining reliable coal supplies to key industrial sectors.
