BCCL Extends Support After Mine Tragedy

In a gesture of support and solidarity, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has extended an ex-gratia assistance of ₹25 lakh to the family of late Sonu Kumar Singh, a dozer operator who tragically lost his life in a mine accident at New Benedih Patch under ABOCP on May 29. The financial assistance was handed over by Kumar Ranjeev, General Manager, Block II Area, during a ceremony held at the Block II Regional Office. Family members of the deceased received the cheque in the presence of senior BCCL officials and representatives of Ambe Mining Private Limited, the outsourcing agency operating at the site. The ex-gratia payment has been released under the prescribed provisions applicable in such unfortunate incidents and is intended to provide immediate financial support to the bereaved family. While no amount can compensate for the loss of a loved one, the assistance aims to ease the family’s financial burden during a challenging period. The incident has once again highlighted the importance of workplace safety in mining operations. BCCL reiterated its commitment to employee welfare and emphasized that the well-being of workers remains a top priority across its operational areas.
