BEML Cuts Q1 Loss as Revenue Jumps 29%
State-owned defence and heavy equipment manufacturer BEML Ltd reported a significant improvement in its June-quarter performance, narrowing its net loss even as business activity and operating expenses increased. For Q1 FY27, BEML recorded a net loss of ₹27.01 crore, down 57.9% from ₹64.11 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations climbed 29.2% year-on-year to ₹819.62 crore, while total income increased 27.8% to ₹821.19 crore. The improvement came despite the April-June quarter traditionally being a seasonally softer period for the company. Higher business activity also pushed total expenses up 19.9% year-on-year to ₹854.91 crore. Sequentially, however, the picture was weaker. BEML had reported a net profit of ₹179.82 crore in the March 2026 quarter, highlighting the sharp seasonal difference between the financial year’s closing quarter and Q1. Alongside the quarterly results, BEML’s Board recommended a revised final dividend of ₹12.28 per equity share for FY2025-26. The combination of stronger year-on-year revenue and a substantially narrower loss puts attention on whether the company can sustain this momentum through the coming quarters. As a major public-sector manufacturer serving defence, mining, construction, rail and metro segments, BEML’s upcoming order execution and cost management will remain important indicators of its FY27 performance.
