CCL’s ₹1 Crore Safety Net Supports Bereaved Family

Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has extended significant financial support to the family of late employee Basudev Mahato, providing a ₹1 crore accidental death benefit under its Corporate Salary Package offered in association with Punjab National Bank (PNB).
The financial assistance was formally handed over to Mahato’s mother, Bhokhari Devi, in the presence of senior representatives from CCL and PNB. The settlement marks the seventh successful accidental death benefit claim processed under the salary package, highlighting the financial protection available to participating employees and their families.
The initiative goes beyond a conventional salary-banking arrangement by providing insurance-linked financial safeguards that can become particularly important when an employee’s family suddenly loses its primary source of income.
Senior officials, including Kuju Area General Manager Rajiv Kumar Sinha, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and encouraged employees to understand the insurance and financial benefits available through the Corporate Salary Package so that eligible welfare provisions can be fully utilised.
The latest settlement also reflects CCL’s broader emphasis on employee welfare and family security. By combining workplace benefits with structured financial protection, the PSU is seeking to ensure that support for its workforce continues beyond the workplace, particularly during unforeseen tragedies.
For CCL employees, the case also highlights the importance of understanding salary-linked insurance coverage, maintaining updated nominee information and being aware of the benefits available through institutional banking arrangements.
