IndianOil Says Fuel Supply Remains Stable

Amid reports of fuel shortages in some regions, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) has clarified that there is no nationwide shortage of petrol or diesel, assuring customers that fuel availability across India remains stable and uninterrupted.
The company stated that the limited disruptions reported at select fuel stations are temporary and localised, caused by short-term demand-supply imbalances and shifting buying patterns in specific areas rather than any broader supply crisis.
IndianOil explained that the recent surge in fuel demand has been driven by multiple factors, including seasonal diesel consumption during harvesting activities, increased commercial movement, and customers shifting from private fuel retailers to PSU-operated outlets due to pricing differences.
The company highlighted that fuel demand has seen a strong uptick this month, with petrol sales rising by 14% and diesel demand increasing by nearly 18%, putting temporary pressure on certain retail locations.
Despite this sharp rise in consumption, IndianOil said it is actively managing logistics and replenishment operations to ensure smooth fuel availability across its network of over 42,000 retail outlets nationwide.
The reassurance from India’s largest fuel retailer comes as the country witnesses strong economic activity and rising energy demand, with IndianOil maintaining that its supply chain remains robust and fully capable of meeting consumer requirements.
The company urged the public not to panic, reiterating that the situation is temporary, localised, and under control, with efforts underway to maintain seamless fuel distribution across the country.
