RINL Gets New Operations Chief

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of seasoned steel sector professional Subhasis Sengupta as Director (Operations). He officially assumed charge on June 3, 2026, bringing with him more than three decades of experience in steel manufacturing, project execution, and plant operations.
A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Bengal Engineering & Science University and an M.Tech holder from NIT Durgapur, Sengupta began his career with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in 1992 as a Management Trainee. Over the years, he handled several critical assignments and played a key role in major expansion and modernization projects, including his tenure as Chief General Manager (Projects) at Durgapur Steel Plant.
At RINL, Sengupta is expected to drive operational efficiency and support the company’s growth roadmap. His priorities are likely to include improving capacity utilization, enhancing equipment reliability, ensuring raw material availability, and strengthening overall production performance.
His appointment comes at an important phase for India’s steel sector, where operational competitiveness and sustainable growth have become key priorities. Industry observers believe his extensive experience in large-scale steel operations will help RINL further strengthen its position in the domestic steel market.
As the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, RINL remains one of India’s prominent steel producers. The induction of an experienced industry leader is expected to provide fresh momentum to the company’s operational and strategic objectives in the years ahead.
