RINL Production Slumps as Coke Pushings Hit Historic Low

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited’s Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is facing renewed production concerns after overnight Coke Oven pushings reportedly dropped to just 115, described as the plant’s lowest-ever level. The sharp fall has brought fresh attention to the operational pressures confronting the steelmaker and the stability of its upstream production chain. During the same period, Hot Metal production stood at around 12,800 tonnes, while the Steel Melting Shop recorded 73 heats. With each heat yielding roughly 150 tonnes of liquid steel, the numbers indicate continued pressure across key stages of the plant’s steelmaking operations. Coke Oven performance is particularly important because coke is a critical input for blast furnace operations. A sustained reduction in pushings can therefore affect the wider production cycle, making consistent raw-material availability and reliable plant operations crucial for maintaining output. The latest figures come at a sensitive time for RINL as attention remains focused on improving capacity utilisation and restoring operational stability at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
